Missing man’s father seeks answers
MEDICINE HAT — The father of a slain Medicine Hat man says he is searching for answers in his son’s killing.
The body of Darcy Baumbach was found in his home last week.
Police have charged 37-year-old Michael Paul Steinkey with the second-degree murder of Baumbach and seriously assaulting another man.
Police allege the three men knew each other.
The injured man was sent to hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Ray Baumbach says the main question he wants answered is “why?”
Ray previously had plans to travel from his home in B.C. to visit his son this week — now he will be in the city to hold a memorial service.
“It’s tough, very tough,” Ray said. “You don’t figure on your son dying before you do.”
Ray described his 47-year-old son as “a wonderful guy” who had a passion for fishing.
“His voice always had a bit of a laughter to it,” Ray recalled.
