Red Deer shopping mall part of Canada 150 campiagn

National photo contest now open

Bower Place shopping centre is participating in a national campaign – MY CANADA 150 and Fabulous – in celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday that includes a photo contest and trivia challenge in support of the Canadian Red Cross.

An online survey earlier asked 40 questions covering everything from food and entertainment favourites, household preferences and personal Canadian traditions. The survey found that the symbol that best represents Canada was the maple leaf, with second place an RCMP Mountie. For every completed survey, 50 cents was donated to the Canadian Red Cross.

The photo contest is now open and submissions will be accepted until June 16 with public voting starting on June 17.

Applicants can submit a digital photo depicting what Canada means to them and the top five photos that receive the most votes will each win a $150 pre-paid Visa gift card. Winners will be announced on July 17.

Canadians are also eligible to enter the MY CANADA 150 and Fabulous contest where Canadians have a chance of winning $10,000 in Air Canada gift cards to go on a Canadiana adventure. The contest is open now and closes July 15. The winner will be selected by random draw on July 17.

Bower Place wraps up the campaign on July 15 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. with their 36th annual pancake breakfast in the Hudson’s Bay parking lot.
