If you needed a reason to break out the kilt for Valentine’s Day, then Kinsmen Club of Lacombe has the event for you. Their Valentine Ceilidh will help to celebrate in Gaelic fashion with great music and dancing at the Lacombe Memorial Centre on Saturay. The Celtic band St. James Gate will perform with special guests Red Deer Legion Pipe Band, Highland Dancers Kenzie and Dani MacAskill, Emma MacKay, and fiddler Paul Brooks. There is still room available for fathers and daughters to enjoy a special moment together with the Daddy/Daughter Sweetheart Social, hosted by the Shalom Counselling Centre on Feb. 25. The event is for families aged five to 12 years old.Tickets are $35 per person and include a buffet dinner, father-daughter activities, dancing and prizes. Each family will receive a photograph to remember the occasion. The activities will run from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Bower-Kin Community Hall. Tickets available by contacting the centre at 403-342-0339.
Central Alberta Historical Society will delve into the history for one of the remarkable aircraft in the 20th century during their meeting on Feb. 15. The society is hosting a showing of The Immortal Beaver, a film of Canada’s world famous bush aircraft, the de Havilland Beaver. The event starts at 7 p.m. in the Red Deer Library Snell Auditorium.
