Stream of dreams

The Stream of Dreams Mural Society was born out of the 1998 tragic poisoning of all aquatic life in Byrne Creek, Burnaby, B.C., through the storm drain system. Its goal is to educate communities about their watershed, rivers and streams and also build a legacy of community art which will remind residents of the importance of our eco-systems. On Wednesday afternoon, approximately 280 elementary students from G.W. Smith , St. Elizabeth, Grandview and Annie L. Gaetz schools attended an educational presentation in Bower Place Shopping Centre. Afterwards, each student was encouraged to paint and submit their own paper ‘Dreamfish,’ which will be displayed as part of an Earth Week mural in a dedicated vacant unit in the East Wing of the Shopping Centre from April 28 to May 31. Above, from the left, are: Brandon MacPherson, Paige Stevens and Raina Sundquist from Grandview School.
