Blue Moon Marquee to perform at Fratters Speakeasy

The Blue Moon Marquee will bring its original music combining early blues, stomp jazz and minor swing to Fratters Speakeasy on May 7.

The band is made up of Rock Mountain House’s Alexander Wesley Cardinal on vocals and guitar and Jasmine Colette from the Alberta Badlands on vocals, upright bass and foot drums.

The Blue Moon Marquee is heavily influenced by old jazz swing, blues, delta and ragtime standards by the likes of Lonnie Johnson, Eddie Lang, Blind Willie Mctell, Skip James, Django Reinhard and Tom Watts.

The group was formerly known as A.W. Cardinal and originally from Alberta. They now split their time between the West Coast and Montreal, where they have put the finishing touches on their latest album, Lonesome Ghosts, set to drop on June 6 at the Vat in Red Deer in a special 1920s themed release show.

They will then launch their supporting 40-date tour that will take them across Canada and the U.S., including performances at the Vancouver International Jazz Fest, Victoria Jazz Fest and New York City.
