Musicians can win big money
Central Alberta musicians and bands can apply for the chance to win up to $100,900 in career development cash, as well as professional mentoring opportunities.
This year’s PEAK Performance Project has been launched between Calgary’s 95.3 The PEAK radio station and Alberta Music. The goal is to help emerging Alberta artists develop further, preparing them “to take on the world.”
Twelve finalists from Alberta will get to go through an intensive one-week Boot Camp training program on the music business, live performance, songwriting, marketing and promotion.
As this same Boot Camp, with its do-it-yourself philosophy, has been running for the past five years in B.C., the 12 Alberta finalists will be paired with their 12 counterparts from Canada’s most westerly province through the mentoring process.
All of the finalists will be mentored by top professionals in the music industry and will receive $5,000 towards career development. They will also get the chance to perform live in Calgary as part of the PEAK Performance Project Concert Series.
Of Alberta’s 12 finalists, the three who are judged to be the top artists will receive large cash prizes to help develop their music careers: The first-place winner will receive $100,900, the second-place finisher will get $75,000, and the third prize is $50,000.
The three will also get to perform live at the PEAK Performance Project Finale.
Applications for the contest will be received until May 2. Visit www.peakperformanceproject.com and fill out the online form.
