Organist to make pipes sing at concert

A local organist will play the pipes Light and Lively in a weekend concert.

With music performed by area organist Wendy Markosky, the concert is set for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Gaetz Memorial United Church, 4758 Ross Street.

Markosky is a music professor at Canadian University College, Lacombe and co-chair of its music department. She teaches pipe organ, harpsichord, music theory, theory and performance classes as well as being the church organist at the Seventh Day Adventist church at the school.

She also plays organ and the harpsichord with the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra.

She is a member of the Royal Canadian College of Organists and has performed on the Davis Organ in the Winspear Performing Arts Centre in Edmonton as well as other venues in the United States and in Canada.

Admission to the concert is $10 per person, with children 12 and under free. Proceeds go to the Gaetz United’s Community Outreach Program.
