Performing arts festival coming
Central Alberta’s youth will display an array of musical talent during the 51st annual Red Deer Festival of Performing Arts.
The festival will run from April 22 to 26 at Red Deer College.
It will feature over 6,000 performances from participants ranging from five to 25 years of age.
Musical competitions will include performances from solo performers, ensembles, community and school bands.
Woodwinds, brass, string and piano will be among the various instruments being played throughout the festival.
The festival will also showcase disciplines from the literary arts such as speeches, creative story telling, poetry and prose pieces.
Performers will also present musical theatre.
Shows start each day at either 9 a.m., 1:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m., with admission ranging from $3 to $10.
On May 3, the Living Stones Church will host the Performer’s Showcase at 2 p.m. for a volunteer cover charge. Over 100 scholarships will be awarded during the showcase.
