That’s Entertainment to showcase talents of RDC music students
That’s Entertainment Music Student Showcase highlights Red Deer Collage’s music students’ best performances of the school year.
Two concerts this weekend will feature the college’s best performers, said second-year music student Jesse Kopala.
“It’s the best of the best performing,” said Kopala, who is also one of the producers of the event.
The concerts, produced entirely by music students, run on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
Kopala said That’s Entertainment isn’t limited to second-year students — first-year students also have a chance to showcase their skills.
“Everyone has the opportunity to be on stage and perform as a rocking rock star,” he said.
Facility adviser Steve Sherman said allowing students to have complete control over the production gives them invaluable hands-on experience.
“They’re learning the trade from the inside and out so hopefully the things they’re learning will take them further in their life,” said Sherman.
Sherman said the concert also showcases the level of talent that has been taught at RDC.
That’s Entertainment “lets the public know, the Red Deer community know, of the talent we have here,” said Sherman. “We are one of the best kept secrets in the province.”
That’s Entertainment will present 25 acts that were selected from nearly 110 performances throughout the school year.
The showcase will feature a variety of music selections, including hip-hop, classical and jazz.
Both shows will be on the main stage of the Arts Centre.
Tickets can be purchased at Black Knight Ticket Centre for $25.25 or $21.25 for students and seniors.
