TORONTO — Comedy star Jay Baruchel has signed on to host the new Canadian Amazon Prime Video series “LOL: Last One Laughing Canada.”

The six-part comedy-variety show will be shot in Toronto and see Canadian comedic actors and stand-ups competing to make each other laugh first.

Dozens of cameras will capture the action during the six-hour competition.

The final comedian left standing will win a grand prize for a charity of their choice.

Toronto-based Insight Productions is producing the show, which is based on an Amazon franchise format that’s already launched in several cities around the world.

The Canadian cast hasn’t been announced yet.

This is the third Canadian Amazon original series announced by the streaming service, following the upcoming “Kids In The Hall” and “All or Nothing: Toronto Maple Leafs.”
