RDC film students and alumni are nominated for AMPIA awards

Winners will be announced on April 29

RDC students, past and present, received 14 nominations for the 43rd-annual Alberta Film and Television Awards.

Here is a list of RDC nominations for the Alberta Media Production Industries Association’s Rosie Awards that celebrate outstanding achievement in Alberta’s screen industries:

- Plight: A Comic Book Rock Opera for best musical or variety program (Randy Brososky, producer)

- Sam Lundell’s Everything for best music video (Justin Brunelle, producer)

- The Hellevator Project for best digital or interactive project (Randy Brososky, producer)

- Canary for best dramatic short (Justin Brunelle and Carlee Ryski, producers)

- One, One Thousand for best dramatic short (Justin Brunelle, producer)

- Join the Dance for best student production (David Daniel Kohl, producer)

- Justin Brunelle for best director for a drama under 30 minutes (two nominations) for One, One Thousand and Canary

- Shaun Johnston for best performance by an Alberta actor (two nominations) for Heartland episode ‘Here and Now’ and Wynonna Earp’s ‘Landslide’

- Carlee Ryski for best performance by an Alberta actress (two nominations) for On the Rocks and Canary

- Sam Reid for best cinematographer for drama over 30 minutes for On the Rocks

- Michael Olson for best overall sound (non-fiction over 30 minutes) for The Secret Life of Pianos

The locally produced film, She Has A Name, also garnered five nominations, including best dramatic feature.

The 2017 Alberta Film & Television Awards are on April 29 in Edmonton.
