A former member of Barenaked Ladies will perform in the city next month with the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra.

Steven Page is one of three featured guest artists slated to join the RDSO for the Great Canadian Songbook concert on Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Memorial Centre in Red Deer.

Page is now a solo performer, who is also with The Art of Time Ensemble.

The other guest artists are guitarist Craig Northey, formerly with the band Odds and a film score composer, and cellist Kevin Fox, who’s worked with Justin Bieber, Celine Dion and Tom Cochrane, and toured most recently with Chantal Kreviazuk.

Page will perform the pop song If I Had A Million Dollars in a show that will also include such genuine musical Canadiana as Mon Pays by Gilles Vigneault, Heart of Gold by Neil Young, and Ian Tyson’s Four Strong Winds.

Chandra Kastern, executive-director of the RDSO, said the concert was partially funded as an official Canada 150 celebration — a funding collaboration between the Red Deer and District Community Foundation, federal government, RDSO subscribers and local sponsors.

“We are a local destination for world class artistry — there’s no better was to highlight this than for us to deliver a full program of popular Canadian content,” said Kastern.

Tickets are available at the Black Knight Ticket Centre.
