Kudos to Kenneth Boyko for his recent article Recognizing touch deficit and to the Advocate for publishing it on Jan. 6.

As a rural Alberta raised girl, I know what it is like to have one school, one hospital, and a single RCMP detachment in the area, or perhaps a couple within a reasonable driving distance. We make do with the services we have in more remote areas and hope that amazing teachers, doctors, nurses, paramedics, and law enforcement officers are willing to make these towns their home and care for our communities like we do.

Instead of having the city pick up Christmas trees from the curb side, why not have people put them in their backyard. They could have them decorated with bird food that would feed birds until spring. Then the city could pick them up before the spring thaw. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to look and see all the birds during the winter?

War is death, it is destruction, and suffering. It is also a time when men and women, soldiers and civilians stand up and face great danger to stop wars and restore peace. But how do we remember them today?

As we approach the holiday season and the beginning of a new year I’m sure that the most common Christmas wish this year would be for the pandemic to end and life to return to some type of normalcy.

A recent article in the Red Deer Advocate on expansion of the Red Deer Regional Hospital contained some quotes from Jason Stephan, MLA for Red Deer South, that are examples of a politician doing his or her job as mandated by the majority of voters who elected them.

Kudos to Jerry Tennant for his outstanding leadership and management of the Red Deer Special Olympics organization.

This letter is in regards to Bill 85 – recently proposed by the Alberta government.

I heard this story at the barbershop on Little Gaetz.

I am writing in regards to the Red Deer Advocate article Central Alberta man questions extra charges on his electricity bill published on Nov. 10.
