Health-care system can be fixed
The hard facts of Canada’s health-care system are as follows:
l Wait- times are among the longest in the modern world. In 2012, for example, the average Canadian could expect to wait more than four months for treatment by a specialist after their general practitioner referred them. [Fraser Forum magazine, October 2013]
l Canada’s health-care system is the most expensive in the modern world. Compared to an average of other countries with similar universal-access health systems, Canada spent 26 per cent more of our GDP on health care, specifically, 86 per cent more than Japan. [Fraser Forum, same issue]
Is there a solution to our dubious system? Yes, of course!
Will Canadian voters and political leaders have the courage to open their minds to the solution? Of course not!
Will we continue to be misled by fear-mongering socialist thinkers with their privatization and profit boogeymen? Sure we will. ...
We deserve what we’ve got. ...
