RCMP deserve my praise
April Fool’s Day from 2:30 a.m.: mother nature calls. Might as well look out and see what the weather is like: slight skiff, everything else is fine. Fast forward to 5 a.m. Holy cow. I slept in, got an extra half hour sleep for my last day off, check on coffee, check on weather. What the ... my truck is missing.
Call to RCMP, report truck’s absence. Told to come down to detachment at 9 a.m. and fill out report. Excellent service. Meanwhile, Mama left home to deal with what was thought, originally, to be the lesser of two evils. Insurance company did excellent job of getting us sorted with a rental and all connected issues, although there was about three hours of phone conversations involved.
Forward not so swiftly to 4:30 p.m. Return home from picking up rental, only to see phone message from RCMP: “Is your truck dark brown? If so we may have located it. Meet us in the alley behind .... Crescent.” Lo and behold, there’s good old Browny.
I know we are quick to malign the RCMP at times, but you will never hear another discouraging word from me.
A big hats off to the Red Deer city detachment, and all those involved (not including the thief) for their prompt and courteous service.
