Veer should have answered election survey
It was with great interest that I read today’s (Oct. 23) front page article on the recently concluded civic election.
While mayor-elect Tara Veer’s photo was front and centre, what was not so front and centre were her opinions on “a wide variety of issues covered in an Advocate pre-election survey.”
The article goes into considerable detail outlining how each of the newly-elected council members had responded to the paper’s pre-election survey, which touched on a significant number of “hot-bed” issues in the city.
It is important to note that candidates running for election were asked to publicly respond to the survey questions before the election took place.
While Ms. Veer is quoted in the article as responding to some of the issues post-election, the article also indicates that “Veer’s answers to the Advocate’s survey were not published on Oct. 12. She responded after the deadline and her answers were incomplete.”
While other election candidates found the time and the conviction to respond before the election took place, our newly-elected mayor did not. I hope this is not indicative of the leadership style we can come to expect in the next four years.
