The 12th Annual Push & Pace Fundraising Walk, Run or Wheel fundraising event for Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre is set for June 1 at Parkland School.

Presented by Surepath Group, the family event supports children in Central Alberta with diverse needs.

Megan Fitzpatrick, Aspire’s events and donor relations coordinator, said Push & Pull is much more than a fundraiser.

The event is followed by a free barbecue lunch and entertainment for the children, which includes a bouncy castle, face painting, sensory tent, and full playground access at Parkland School, located at 6016 45th Avenue.

“It is an opportunity for Central Alberta families to come out on the day and have some fun. Everyone is welcome. Even if you are not racing, there is plenty to do, all in an inclusive environment," said Fitzpatrick in a statement.

“If you can’t participate in the race, join us for festivities or please sponsor a runner as every dollar counts. All donations and pledges help Aspire support children with diverse needs in Central Alberta by supporting programs, specialized equipment purchases and services,” she said.

The fully paved one, three, and five-km routes ensure accessibility for everyone, including those utilizing wheelchairs and strollers.

Registration is $15 for adults, $10 for youth, and it's free for children 8 years and under. Registration at the event starts at 9:30 a.m. followed by a warm-up at 10 a.m. and first racers start at 10:15 a.m.

At the event, Aspire will also announce the winners of its Annual Children’s Raffle featuring a 2024 Dodge Hornet GT grand prize valued at $41,440.
