ATCO Gas working to restore service in Lacombe County

A natural gas leak in Lacombe County on Wednesday has crews working into the evening to try and restore service to 165 ATCO Gas customers.

A natural gas super box station in the area of Range Road 27-4 between Hwy 12 and Township Road 40-2, about three kms south of the Lacombe County office, was damaged when hit by a truck early in the afternoon.

The truck damaged distribution natural gas lines and a high pressure gas line.

Emergency crews were working as quickly and safely as possible to make the area safe so the truck could be removed.

Once the truck was removed, ATCO Gas crews were going to repair the lines.

ATCO Gas expected to restore service with a temporary station later Wednesday evening, and after that, was going to have customer service representatives visit customers’ homes to assist with relighting appliances and ensure they are functioning properly.

There were no reported injuries in the incident.

For general public inquiries, the ATCO Gas Call Centre can be reached at 1-800-511-3447.
