Abandoned building burns
Red Deer Emergency Services crews were called to a fire at an abandoned house at 30th Avenue and 67th Street just after 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
Fire-medics arrived to find smoke and flames billowing out of the old wooden structure. Platoon chief Kelly Wilson said crews were able to quickly knock down the blaze by attacking with water from all sides.
Red Deer County firefighters also attended. Heavy rain poured down at one point. Wilson said lightning wasn’t suspected, but an investigation into the cause will continue.
There were no injuries.
