Body of female murder victim discovered near Olds
RCMP say murder is the cause of death after a woman’s body was found next to a rural road near Olds Tuesday evening.
The grisly discovery was made by a resident of the area who was driving by. RCMP were advised of a body laying adjacent to a rural road about four kilometres northeast of Olds. An autopsy Wednesday concluded that the woman’s death should be considered a murder. Cause of death has not been released.
The identity of the female victim has been positively established through fingerprints but will not be released until the victim’s next of kin have been notified.
The scene was closely examined by the RCMP Forensic Identification Section and the Calgary Major Crimes Unit was called in to assist. The remains were removed to the Calgary Medical Examiner’s Officer, which conducted an autopsy ending late Wednesday.
