Car collides with train near Rimbey

An investigation is underway into a collision between a small car and a Canadian Pacific Railway train that occurred near Rimbey at about 5 p.m. on Monday.

Kevin Hrysak of Canadian Pacific Railway said there were no injuries to the woman driving the car or the train crew.

The collision occurred 3.2 km east of Rimbey at a private rail crossing from a residence or business.

He said the westbound train with 12 loaded tanker cars would have been travelling 40 km per hour or less on that track, which is not a main line.
