Elson goal lifts Rebels over Broncos
RED DEER — Turner Elson’s third-period goal — his seventh of the season — was the winner as the Red Deer Rebels edged the Swift Current Broncos 2-1 in WHL action Saturday.
Newcomer Rhyse Dieno also scored for Red Deer (11-11-1-1) which was playing its first game under Brent Sutter, who replaced Jesse Wallin as head coach earlier in the week.
Chance Lund scored a first-period goal for Swift Current (9-10-3-2).
Rebels netminder Patrik Bartosak made 25 saves, while Eetu Laurikainen stopped 25 shots for the Broncos.
