Hunting video submitted for Wild TV competition

Going out with the gang for a week in the wilderness is spinning into a new business and video venture for a local group, coming soon to a television near you.

The nine members of Dark Timber Outdoors, based in Red Deer and Sylvan Lake with one member from Edmonton, have submitted a hunting video for an upcoming competition on Edmonton-based Wild TV.

At stake is a chance to win a series of spots on the network for more of the hunting videos they have created, said member Mitch Lilley of Red Deer.

Their entry in The Search is set to air on March 3 and will be judged on merits including camera work, editing and viewer votes.

Six other groups are in the running, said Lilley.

Win or lose, he and his partners are jumping into the outdoor DVD and clothing business with both feet, selling their wares at trade fairs and in local sport shops.

Dark Timber has already cut a deal with Wild TV to air 13 new episodes during 2015, regardless of the outcome of the competition.
