Installation of fibre optic line to cause traffic delays

Red Deer drivers can expect delays on 30th Avenue on Thursday, Friday and Monday while crews install a new fibre optic line.

Crews will stop traffic intermittently from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for approximately 15 minutes while they run lines across the roads.

They will be crossing intersections along the west side of 30th Avenue from 32nd to 67th Street, 30th Avenue at 32nd Street and 67th Street between Carleton and Carrington.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid these areas or be prepared for delays.

Fibre optic lines are communication lines that are capable of handling large amounts of data at high speeds.
