Man charged with kicking, punching RCMP officer
A 58-year-old man faces several charges after allegedly punching and kicking a police officer in the face while resisting arrest early Friday morning.
Around 12:55 a.m. on Friday, Red Deer City RCMP responded to a call of a intoxicated man who would not leave a downtown restaurant and bar.
Police say the man was placed under arrest for causing a disturbance. However, the man allegedly resisted arrest and punched and kicked the police officer in the face. The officer was treated and later released from the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.
Robert Stuart Fleming, 58, is charged with assaulting a police officer causing bodily harm, resisting a police officer and causing a disturbance.
Fleming remains in custody pending release on bail and will appear in Red Deer provincial court on Dec. 31.
