Motorcyclist killed near Sylvan Lake
A 62-year-old Eckville man was killed on the weekend, when his motorcycle left a rural road north of Sylvan Lake.
A group of bikers were travelling westbound on Rainy Creek Road on Saturday evening. A single-vehicle collision happened at 6:15 p.m., when one of the motorcyclists failed to negotiate a curve on the road, about one kilometre west of the Hwy 20 intersection.
According to police, his motorbike left the road and struck a fence. No other vehicles were involved.
Sylvan Lake RCMP, Bentley Fire Department and ambulance workers arrived at the scene to find the driver, Lloyd Spittal, 62, severely injured. The Eckville man was rushed to Red Deer hospital but died a short time later.
No charges will be laid
