One man arrested in relation to stabbing
One man has been arrested in relation to one of the stabbings on the CPR walking bridge in Red Deer earlier this summer.
Red Deer RCMP were called to the bridge at about 1:55 a.m. on July 5 to a report of a male who had been stabbed.
Two males had been walking on the bridge when they were approached by a group of three other males. A fight between the two groups ensued and the victim was stabbed in the abdomen.
The victim was taken to a nearby residence and police were called. He was then transported to Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre with non-life-threatening injuries.
Marlo Tyrell Thomas, 21, of Red Deer has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He was scheduled to appear in Red Deer provincial court Tuesday.
A week later, on July 11, a similar incident took place on the bridge when a man walking on the bridge was approached by a group of three men. The group demanded the other man’s wallet and a scuffle ensued. The victim was stabbed and taken to Red Deer hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.
