Psychiatric assessment expected for fire suspect
An Edmonton psychiatrist has been given two more weeks to assess a young man accused of setting two fires at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.
Red Deer lawyer John MacNaughton appeared in Red Deer provincial court on Tuesday to speak for Layton Wyatt, 18, who is in custody in Edmonton. Wyatt did not attend.
Wyatt is accused of lighting a fire in medical units at the hospital on two occasions this year. He is also charged with theft of goods worth less than $5,000.
He is due back in court on Sept. 10 to enter his pleas.
