Quidditch tournament moved indoors

A warming spell would have come in handy for local quidditch players.

Unfortunately, due to treacherous winter-like conditions an outdoor tournament scheduled for Saturday has been moved indoors to the Penhold Multiplex.

Games will start at 12:30 p.m. and will go until participants are exhausted or 3:30 to 4 p.m. — whichever comes first.

The social will follow at the original venue, the Red Deer Titans Rugby Club grounds, south of Gasoline Alley.

There’s no admission fee to watch the game, which has been adapted for non-magical play from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books. Food and drinks will be sold on site, as will $15 T-shirts and $1 buttons as a fundraiser for the local quidditch club. Used children’s and adult’s books are also being collected for First Nations libraries.
