Red Deer man arrested in Toronto denied bail
A Red Deer man accused of a breaking down apartment doors and scaring the tenants inside has been denied bail after being arrested in Toronto.
Kevin Leo Gallagher, 30, faces a wide range of charges stemming from a series of incidents earlier this year, starting on New Year’s day in connection with a rampage inside an apartment building near the city centre.
Gallagher was arrested and charged by Red Deer City RCMP.
Released from custody and was arrested again on Jan. 3 in connection with reports that a man carrying a bolt cutter had been seen moving among parked cars. Gallagher was charged with possession of illegal drugs by the arresting officers.
He was arrested a third time by Blackfalds RCMP investigating reports of a shoplifter.
An arrest warrant was issued when Gallagher did not appear for a subsequent court appearance.
He was taken back into custody in Toronto on May 13 and was returned to the Red Deer Remand Centre.
Represented by defence counsel Kevin Schollie, Gallagher reserved his pleas after a bail hearing before Calgary-based Judge Judy Shriar in Red Deer provincial court on Tuesday.
His next court appearance is set for June 12.
