Skills competition
Blake Cook of Clive works on a vertical fillet weld during the Regional Skills Competition at Red Deer College on Thursday. The one-day competition brought 40 youth from Central Alberta high schools together to compete in welding, carpentry, auto service and the culinary arts. The top two in each category will go on to the Alberta Skills Championship in Edmonton in May while the winners of that competition will carry on to the national competition in Kitchener Waterloo, Ont. in the hopes of making their way to the World Skills Championships in London, England in 2011.
