Streets closed for unfounded firearms complaint

Streets were closed in Red Deer as RCMP responded to a what turned out to be a false complaint of a firearm on Monday.

Red Deer RCMP say they received a complaint from a residence in the area of 55th Avenue and 37th Street around 8:35 a.m.

No firearms were found and police determined that the complaint was unfounded.

A man was arrested on a non-firearms-related charge.

Streets in the area were closed for a short period of time while police investigated.
