Suicide information session tonight at Red Deer College
A public information session on suicide awareness will be held tonight at Red Deer College’s Cenovus Learning Centre, from 7 to 9 p.m.
It’s the first of two community meetings organized in response to public concern after six teen suicides were reported online in February by youth trying to bring awareness to the issue.
The second meeting will be held on Tuesday, also at the Cenovus Learning Centre, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Alberta Health Services - Mental Health and Suicide Information and Education Services are hosting the event. The same information will be presented at both meetings.
A presentation will be made by Dawne Adkins, adult education co-ordinator, with Suicide Information and Education Services. There will be an opportunity for questions.
Community organizations will also have displays for people to find out about other resources available in the community.
For more information contact Noreen McCallum at Alberta Health Services - Mental Health at 403-340-4898, or Laura MacNeill at Suicide Information and Education Services at 403-342-4966.
