Teen charged for alleged fake crime report

A teenager alleged to have reported a crime that didn’t happen now faces charges of mischief and breaching probation.

Police arrested a 15-year-old boy at about 1:30 on Monday after investigating complaints of a fight in a downtown Red Deer parking lot.

Const. Julie Letal, media liaison officer for the Red Deer City RCMP, said 911 dispatchers received a call that there was a big fight in the grocery store parking lot adjacent to Ross Street and 51st Avenue and that someone had been stabbed.

Police could find no evidence of a fight or a stabbing when they arrived at the scene, Letal said in a statement issued later in the day.

RCMP ask that anyone with information about this incident contact the Red Deer City detachment at 403-343-5575.
