Water concerns to be addressed
A revised water strategy in Alberta could pit an individual’s right to clean water against the economic power of corporations for whom the stuff of life has become a commodity, say organizers of a pair of water-related events in Red Deer on March 19.
Derrick Callan, Chair of the Council of Canadians Red Deer Chapter, invites people who have concerns about their water resources to come to either or both events.
The first event will be a demonstration and discussion of water issues, set for the Red Deer College Forum from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Following that, the group will screen a documentary, A Bottled Life, at 6:30 p.m. in Room 2301 at the college.
There is no fee to attend either event. People are encouraged to use what they have learned to join Alberta Environment’s public consultation on water, which wraps up at the end of this month. Learn more online at www.environment.alberta.ca
