Two suspects are in custody following two armed robberies at two gas stations minutes apart early Wednesday morning.

Police say they first responded to an attempted armed robbery at Fas Gas on 5101 76 Street around 2:15 a.m.. Two armed suspects approached a locked door and unsuccessfully tried to break into the business, before fleeing in a Ford Contour.

Just 21 minutes later, Red Deer RCMP responded to another armed robbery at the Fas Gas located at 4023 50 Street, where two men entered the building with a firearm and demanded cash and lottery tickets. RCMP tracked down the suspect car nearby and took the driver into custody and seized a firearm from the car. The second suspect was arrested at a residence soon after.

The suspects’ names and the charges will be released once they have been sworn before the courts.

Police have not confirmed whether these two incidents are related to other recent armed robberies.
