The Town of Blackfalds is asking residents for feedback on the arena expansion project.

Following an open house on Wednesday regarding the Multi-Plex arena expansion, the town released concept renderings of the future project.

Residents are asked to complete a survey: www.blackfalds.com/tourism-recreation/multi-plex-ice-arena.

The website also features a gallery of renderings of the new ice surface and the second phase of the project, which is a new home for the library. The expansion will also feature community spaces, combining arts with recreational programming.

Construction costs have already been built into the town’s long-range capital plan. The arena expansion will cost about $15 million and is on track to be built in 2021. The library, which is estimated to cost $4 million, is projected to be built in 2024.

The town will look for sponsorships, naming rights and other groups who may want to help.
