Blackfalds is undertaking a social needs assessment to look at ways to improve the social well-being and quality of life of residents.

Moorhouse and Associates, and Objective Research and Evaluation were chosen to undertake a Blackfalds the Social Needs Assessment and Master Plan.

This plan will identify priorities, guide decision-making, resource allocation, and what action can be taken to improve the community.

Throughout the coming months, the consultants will be working with Blackfalds FCSS staff and town administration to engage stakeholders, survey the public, and oversee focus groups and open houses to gather resident input regarding the community’s social needs.

“As our community moves beyond the collective pandemic experience, this plan will support the work of Blackfalds FCSS to ensure the needs of the community are being met,” said Blackfalds FCSS manager Sue Bornn.

“We look forward to finding out how best we can ensure our residents are healthy, connected, and feel safe in Blackfalds.”

Community engagement opportunities will take place June, July and August and a master plan is expected to go to council for approval in October.
