Central Alberta woman killed in collision

Incident occurred at intersection of Hwys 11 and 21

A woman from Central Alberta died on Tuesday after her car collided with a semi truck and trailer east of Red Deer.

The woman, age 39, was pronounced deceased on scene. She was the lone occupant of the car, RCMP said in a statement. Her name is being withheld at this time.

RCMP and Stettler and other emergency responded to a call at 3:55 p.m. about a serious injury collision at the intersection of Hwys 11 and 21 near the hamlet of Nevis, which is about 60 km east of Red Deer.

Motorists provided first aid and assisted on scene until emergency services arrived. A 54-year-old man driver of the semi truck and trailer was not injured.

Bashaw and Stettler RCMP members continue to investigate with the assistance of the RCMP Collision Analyst and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement branch.
