Hockey fans in Central Alberta will have one more place to watch the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers do battle.

On Thursday, Westerner Park announced that they would host watch parties for the Battle of Alberta at the Peavey Mart Centrium on both Friday and Sunday.

Entry is free, but fans are encouraged to donate to the Red Deer Rebels Foundation and the Westerner Park Foundation.

“This is a case of the community reaching out to us,” said Mike Olesen, CEO of Westerner Park. “Westerner Park is happy to partner with the Red Deer Rebels to see central Albertans come together and celebrate this iconic hockey series.”

According to the release, food and beverages will be available inside the rink. Westerner Park is also reminding fans to keep the “spirit friendly while repping their favourite team”.

Doors open at 8 p.m. for Friday’s game and at 6 p.m. for Sunday’s contest.
