The summer villages of White Sands and Rochon Sands have rejected a proposal to increase the number of lots at the Buffalo Lake RV Resort development.

The County of Stettler had sought to amend the Buffalo Lake South Shore Intermunicipal Development Plan to allow 325 RV units instead of the 168 presently permitted.

Stettler county said Tuesday council will review the summer villages’ responses and consider its next steps.

The county notes, for instance, that Rochon Sands indicated that it would be open to discussing a formal review process of the plan, in whole or in part.

Currently, the RV development remains under a stop work order that was issued earlier this year by the county.

The developers approached the county after stating the 83-acre project, formerly known as Paradise Shores, is not viable with the present number of approved lots.
