Delburne man’s manslaughter trial set for December 2018

Daniel Wayne Newsham charged after two-vehicle fatal collision near Delburne

A 45-year-old Delburne charged with manslaughter following a two-vehicle crash last August will go to trial next year.

Daniel Wayne Newsham will go to trial from Dec. 10-14 in Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench.

Newsham was charged in connection with a fatal collision about 10 km southwest of Delburne on Aug. 14.

Three Hills RCMP said they responded to a call of a suspicious Dodge Dakota around 11:30 p.m. Police allege the driver of the truck followed a Ford F-150 from the Delburne area to Hwy 42 and Range Road 240, where the two vehicles collided.

The Ford F-150 rolled. Stanley Dick, 32, was airlifted by STARS to a Calgary hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Police announced the manslaughter charge on Sept. 19.
