One person was taken to the hospital after a vehicle rear-ended another vehicle downtown Red Deer Monday.

In the process, there was also some damage to the Sacred Heart Church property – around the fencing and the grounds.

Red Deer staff Sgt. Rob Marsorlier said Monday evening the church itself wasn’t struck, “but there is damage to the property.”

The collision happened in the afternoon when a 49-year-old who was driving westbound on 55 St. read-ended a vehicle and side-swiped a third vehicle.

The driver who was rear-ended was taken to the hospital. Injuries were unknown Monday evening.

The investigation is ongoing and the charges are pending.

More information was expected Tuesday morning.
