Olympic women’s hockey team gold-medalist Dr. Hayley Wickenheiser and Humboldt Broncos bus crash survivor Ryan Straschnitzki will be special guests for An Evening with The Lending Cupboard.
This fundraising event, which takes place June 16, will feature a dinner, 50/50 draw and silent auction items.
“When I think of this event, I reflect on our community which has been so resilient and has continued to look forward,” said Dawna Morey, The Lending Cupboard executive director.
“I also believe this can be a celebration after two years of not being able to come together in the ways we were so used to.
“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate then to have two inspirational people like Hayley Wickenheiser and Ryan Straschnitzki come and speak to us.”
Wickenheiser and Straschnitzki have both overcome adversity in their lives, Morey added.
“It’s inspirational for us because that is what we hope we can also help people do here at The Lending Cupboard,” said Morey.
“In planning events like this, there has to be a connection with what we do here at The Lending Cupboard. I think Hayley and Ryan exemplify that.”
