Human remains near Ermineskin First Nation identified

Human remains discovered in February near Ermineskin First Nation have been identified.

RCMP said the remains, found on Feb. 24 near Highway 2A, belonged to Willard Swampy, 55.

Swampy was reported missing to Wetaskiwin RCMP on Nov. 28, 2019. Police said efforts were made to locate him.

His disappearance was initially reported to the media on Dec. 3, 2019 and then again on Jan. 9, 2020.

RCMP were not able to confirm the identity prior to positive identification being established with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. No further information will be provided.
