RCMP hosting presentation on counterfeit money

Red Deer RCMP are hosting a public presentation on Wednesday so people can learn to recognize counterfeit money.

The free event will be held at 2:30 p.m. and run about one-and-a-half hours in Community Room off the lobby of the downtown detachment, at 4602 51st Ave.

A counterfeit expert from the Bank of Canada, and the lead fraud and counterfeit officer from Alberta RCMP, will provide examples of counterfeit techniques, education on how to recognize counterfeit money and an opportunity to see and handle examples of counterfeit currency.

People who regularly work with cash would find it useful to learn how to recognize counterfeit currency and avoid fraud and financial loss.

Coffee and cookies will be served.

Crime Prevention Week in Alberta runs from May 15 to 21.
