Man arrested, charged after Red Deer stabbing

Incident resulted in serious injuries

A man suspected in a serious stabbing incident in Red Deer has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

RCMP attended a report of a stabbing in Riverside Meadows at 11:55 p.m. on Jan. 22 and found a 34-year-old Red Deer man had been stabbed at a residence after an altercation with two men and a woman. The victim was stabbed in the torso several times and later was in stable condition in hospital.

RCMP identified a suspect shortly after the stabbing and obtained a warrant for his arrest. The man, age 25, was arrested by Calgary Police Service soon after.

He is also charged with assault with a weapon, failing to comply with an undertaking and failing to comply with a probation order.
