The lawyer for a Calgary man arrested in connection with a Lacombe brawl is trying to resolve the case without a trial.

One man died and another was seriously injured in the fight on Dec. 5, 2015.

Jesse Vankroonenburgh, 25, was later arrested by police and charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon in connection with the injured man. He is also facing two counts of failing to comply with conditions of his release from custody.

Defence lawyer Maurice Collard said in court on Monday he was working on resolving the “complex” case for his client.

Vankroonenburgh’s case will return to court on Feb. 6.
