A 39-year-old man from Olds was killed in a collision near Sundre Saturday morning.

Sundre RCMP, firefighters and EMS were called to the collision, which was between an eastbound pickup truck and a westbound car, just after 5 a.m.

The pickup truck driver, a man from Sundre, was transported to a Calgary-area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Olds man driving the car, Darryl Hyslop, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The RCMP would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Hyslop for their loss. It is tragic at anytime to lose a loved one especially more so during the holiday season,” said Sundre RCMP Cpl. Joe Mandel.

The investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision – alcohol consumption has not been ruled out. Police said road conditions were favourable at the time.
