Featuring more than 150 cars up for auction, the Electric Garage’s Red Deer Collector Car Auction and Speed Show is going strong, now in its 11th year.

Starting this Friday night with 50 cars up for auction, Todd Schwindt Electric Garage president and CEO, said they have a wide collection of cars and trucks up to buy and “it’s hard to pick just one,” that stands out.

“We have a 1966 Chevrolet Corvette roadster, a 1983 Porsche 911, lots of 1967-68 Chevrolet Camaros, Mustang fastbacks,” said Schwindt. “There’s lots of good feature cars and lots of good classic trucks too.

“Every year it gets larger and larger. Last year we had lineups around the corner for the main event, so I encourage people to try to get there early and through the doors before the auction starts.”

Saturday at 10:30 a.m., Dan and Laura Dotson of Storage Wars fame, will do some auctioneering and then be around to sign on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.

Also appearing will be Brett “Big Schwag” Warner, of Pass Time and Sons of Anarchy.

The speed show element features exhibitors from mostly the Red Deer area.

“It’s a three day event with over 100 pieces of unreserved memorabilia selling all three days and more than 150 classic cars, hot rods and collector vehicles we’ll sell over the weekend,” Schwindt said. “It’s about the same amount of vehicles we had last year.

“We have some beautiful cars to sell in the main event.”

The car auction and speed show runs Friday from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Westerner, 4847A 19th St. Tickets cost $12 per day or $20 for a weekend pass and can be purchased at the door. The event will be held in the Parkland and Prairie Pavilions.
